Calculation methodology
Every result should be inspectable.
BackdropFit checks user-entered physical dimensions. It does not estimate support strength, safe rigging, lighting coverage or exact camera framing.
Coordinate system
The backdrop plane is the shared zero point. The support’s rear footprint extends behind it. The floor sweep, subject zone, camera distance and operator space extend in front of it.
Required room width

)Backdrop coverage is evaluated separately. The backdrop must be at least as wide as the subject zone plus both user-entered margins. This is physical coverage, not a guarantee about what the camera sees.

)Vertical backdrop coverage is checked separately: the hanging height must meet or exceed the subject height plus the user-entered top margin. A tall room cannot compensate for a backdrop that ends below the intended subject zone.
Curved floor-sweep material
BackdropFit models the wall-to-floor transition as a quarter circle. For hanging height h, floor depth d, curve radius r and trim allowance t:

Paper resets and cost
material remaining = roll length − initial material pull
fresh-floor resets =

roll price × (fresh-floor cut ÷ roll length)The fresh-floor cut is user-entered because photographers trim, rewind and replace paper differently.
Fit, tight and fail
- Fits: remaining clearance meets or exceeds the chosen buffer.
- Tight: the setup fits, but remaining clearance is smaller than that buffer.
- Doesn’t fit: a measured envelope exceeds the room or backdrop.
- Check: a required value or sweep radius is invalid.
